Bosna: ANK 94 – složená deska / Overprint Plating

Jak si tak s Mirkem Šťotkou voláme, řešíme různé věci, které jsou právě v kurzu, ale občas se od naléhavých témat vzdálíme a mluvíme o všeličem jiném. Svého času jsme měli téma přetisku Válečné výpomocné 1915 na FJI 10H/12H v červené barvě. To je velmi zajímavé téma a dostali jsme se k tomu, že se Mirek už asi jednu dekádu snaží o složení této desky.

Proč?! Důvod je jasný. Neznám a ani Mirek nepozná jednu jedinou kompletní tiskovou desku. Proč je tomu tak, můžeme jen spekulovat. Asi za to může chybotisk na ZP16. ten je velmi populární a sběratelsky atraktivní. Proto se z archu vytrhával a zbytek se jen doprodával. Možná po kusech, to nevíme.

Ale jak si ukážeme, chybotisk, s katalogovým označením ANK 94F, není ani zdaleka tou nejatraktivnější položkou z této TD.

Ale nejdříve si známku představíme.

As Mirek Šťotka and I converse, we solve various things that are currently of interest, but sometimes we move away from urgent topics and talk about everything else. At one time we had the theme of the charity 12H overprint from 1915 on the 10H red Franz Joseph I. This is a very interesting topic and we came to the conclusion that Mirek has been trying to determine the plating of the whole plate for about a decade.

Why?! The reason is clear. Neither Mirek nor I know of a single complete sheet. We can only speculate as to why this is so. Probably this is due to the error in Position 16 as it is very popular and attractive for collectors.  One can imagine a collector removing the error from the sheet alone or centered in a block, and the rest sold off. Maybe in pieces, we don’t know.

But as we will see, the error position printing, with the catalog designation ANK 94F, is by far not the most attractive item from this issue.

But first let’s examine the basic overprint issue…

Jde o přetisk na výplatní známce ANK 67. Na známce je vyobrazen císař František Josef I. známka je v červené barvě. Přetisk má barvu modrou. V horní části je letopočet mezi dvěma kosočtverci, v dolní části je prodejní cena známky.

Datum vydání: 1 prosince 1915 v nákladu 150.000 kusů, to je 1.500 archů.

V archu se vyskytují čtyři typy přetisků:

Typ I      18/14

Typ II     16/14

Typ III   18/16

Typ IV   16/16

( čísla jsou v mm s tím, že první číslo je rozteč letopočtu a druhé číslo je rozteč hodnoty )

Výskyt jednotlivých typu v archu:

Typ I      9x  všechny poloché ( flache ) „2“

Typ II     37x, z toho 34x plochá ( flache ) IIf a 3x prohnutá ( geschwundene ) IIg

Typ III   47x  všechny prohnuté (geschwungene) „2“

Typ IV   6x  všechny prohnuté (geschwungene) „2“

It is an overprint on the postage stamp ANK 67, which depicts Emperor Francis Joseph I. The stamp is in red and the overprint is blue. At the top is the year between two diamonds, and at the bottom is the selling price of the stamp.

Date of issue: December 1, 1915 in a print run of 150,000 stamps, that is 1,500 sheets of 100.

There are four basic overprint types in a sheet:

Type I    18/14

Type II   16/14

Type III   18/16

Type IV   16/16

(numbers are in mm with the first number being the width of the top line with the year, and the second number is the width of the bottom line with the value)

Occurrence of basic types in the sheet:

Ferchenbauer [3] gives the following counts by type as:

Type I    9x, all of which are flat (flache) „2“

Type II  37x, of which 34x are the flat (flache) “2” IIf and 3x are the curved (geschwungene) “2” IIg

Pokud je v archu více typů je nasnadě, že budou existovat spojené typy (ST). Tyto ST jsou základním stavebním kamenem pro určení polohy známek v archu a tím pádem základem ke složeni celé desky.

Je velmi pravděpodobné, že většina známek byla roztrhána na jednotlivé kusy. ST jsou velmi hledané a katalogem náležitě ohodnocené. A tato skutečnost značně komplikuje sestavení celého archu. Najít ST je samotné dost náročné. Tyto se vyskytuji v převážné většině v základním provedení, tedy v dvoupáskách a třípásce. Plus samozřejmě až devítiblok okolo chybotisku.

Každý jiný počet známek v neroztrhaném stavu je svým způsobem vzácný. Ale například čtyřbloky s Typem II jsou poměrně běžné. To samé můžeme říct o Typu III. A další ? Odpověď nám dá vyskládaná deska.

Samotné 4 bloky jsou pro vyskládání kompletního archu jen pomocným parametrem, který se navíc ještě musí zvlášť identifikovat. Ale k tomu se dostaneme později.

Since there are different overprint types in the sheet, there will be various combinations of pairs of connected types (CT). These CTs are the basic building block for determining the position of the stamps in the sheet and thus a basis for determining the layout of the entire sheet.

It is very likely that most of the sheets were splitted to individual stamps. CTs are highly sought after given their special pricing in a catalog like Ferchenbauer’s, and finding a CT is quite challenging on its own. The scarcity of CTs thus complicates the reconstruction of the entire sheet.  CTs typically occur in the basic format, ie in strips of 2 or 3 stamps. Plus, of course, those found in the error print block of 9.

CTs with any other numbers of stamps are in a way rare. But, for example, Type II blocks of 4 are relatively common. The same can be said for Type III. And larger blocks? The answer will be given by a reconstructed sheet.

The blocks of 4 themselves are only an auxiliary parameter for determining the complete plate, which must also be identified separately. But we’ll get to that later.

Ale zpět k procesu skládání. Mirek mi asi tak před dvěma lety poslal svoji „rozdělanou“ skládanku archu. Samozřejmě to bylo tristní, ale říká se, že nejhorší je začít. Vícekrát jsme se o této problematice bavili, ale ovoce to nepřineslo.

Až letos si ode mne koupil katalog deskových vad na I.emisi – kamenotisku jeden Američan. Časem jsme si začali psát, protože on objevil web rakouskestranky.cz a dal si tu námahu, že si je pře Google Translator překládal. Což ostatně dělá poměrně hodně cizinců.

Po čase jsem zjistil, že má nějaké větší části archu ve své sbírce. Tak jsem je, po jeho svolení, poslal Mirkovi s tím, že jsem mu dal nějaké návrhy, kde by tyto části mohly být umístěny v archu. Ale stále to bylo velmi málo.

But back to the process of plating. About two years ago, Mirek sent me his „semi-finished“ jigsaw puzzle plating. Of course it was in a sad state, but one needs to start somewhere. We talked about this issue several times, but it did not bear fruit.

Only this year, an American bought a catalog of plate faults on the lithographic 1st issue from me. In time, we started communicating through email, because he discovered the website Rakouskestranky.cz, which he read using the Google Translator. Which, of course, is what most foreigners would do.

Over time, I found that he had some larger parts of the sheet in his collection. So, with his kind permission, I sent them to Mirek, giving him some suggestions as to where these parts could be placed in the sheet. But it was still just a small step toward a complete plating.

Před Velikonocemi 2021 koupil můj dobrý známý starší obchodní zásobu Bosny a Hercegoviny. Tyto „zásoby“ bývají velmi často přebrány. Zde byly vybrány jen ty nejznámější „pecky“. Zbytek byl ve velmi zajímavém stavu.

S kolegou jsme so domluvili, že známky určím, pokud najdu na něco kupce, tak prodám, a zbytek si rozprodá na různých aukcích.

Při prohlídce materiálu jsem se dostal k části přetisků a srdce poskočilo, když jsem rozbalil seskládané části archu této známky.

Before Easter 2021, my good friend bought an older trading stock in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These „stocks“ are very often heavily picked over. Only the most famous special items were selected here. The rest was in a very interesting condition.

My colleague and I agreed that I would determine the stamps, if I found a buyer for something, I would sell it, and then he sell the rest at various auctions.

While inspecting the material, I came to the section of  the overprints and my heart jumped as I unwrapped the folded parts of the sheet of this stamp.

Pro fandy nechám tyto části archu bez popisu. Ale jen pro usnadněni malá nápověda. První 15 blok je kombinace I a III typu, 28 blok je kombinace všech typu. 10 blok jsou typy III a II. A poslední páska je kombinace I a III a IV.

Samozřejmě, co se týká ceny je 28b blok nedostižný a odhadovaná prodejní cena je vysoko nad 500€.

Další množství pásek, 4-bloků a vícebloků, které zde nejsou vyobrazeny byly k dispozici jako podpůrný materiál.

The block of 15 is a combination of type I and III, the block of 28 is a combination of all types. The block of 10 contains types III and II. And the last strip is a combination of I and III and IV.

Of course, in terms of price, the block of 28 is unbeatable and the estimated selling price is well above € 500.

Kombinace všech dostupných částí archu ze tří zdrojů už stačilo k vyskládání celého archu. Této činnosti se ujal Mirek Šťotka. Překrýváním bloků rozklíčoval chybějící části pomocí podtypů a po cca 50 hodinách byl arch složený.

The combination of all available parts of the sheet from three sources was enough to reconstruct the entire plate. Mirek Šťotka undertook this activity. By overlapping the blocks, he worked out the missing parts using subtypes, and after about 50 hours, the plating was complete.

Na závěr ještě trochu cenových relací. Základní cenovou hladinu poskytuje katalog ANK. Ohodnocení spojených typů je v katalogu Dr. Ferchenbauera 2008. Ale to určitě neosahuje všechny zajímavé cenové varianty.

Pokud nepočítáme speciální velké celky, které obsahují různě typy, jako například výše uvedený 28 blok, tak za zmínku určitě stojí 4 blok Typu IV. To je velmi unikátní část archu, která se vyskytuje jen v minimálním množství. Podle mne cena je na úrovni 500-600€.

Další případ je čtyřblok se dvěma známkami Typu IV v diagonále a dalšími typy II a III. Cena by se mohla pohybovat na úrovni 350-450€.

Velmi zajímavá část je známka Typ IIg. Podle všeho je to velmi pravděpodobně vzácnější než chybotisk. Takže určitě okolo 120-150€. důvodem je to, že TD má určitě více variant. Na naší desce se tento typ, Typ IIg nevyskytoval.

A to je další téma ke zkoumání…..

Finally, a little more relative pricing. The basic price level is provided by the ANK catalog. Evaluation of connected types is in the catalog of Dr. Ferchenbauer 2008. But it certainly does not cover all the interesting price variants.

If we do not count special large units that contain different types, such as the above-mentioned block of 28, then it is definitely worth mentioning Type IV blocks of 4. This is a very unique part of the sheet, which survives intact in only minimal quantities. In my opinion, the price is at the level of 500-600 €.

Another case is a block of four with two Type IV marks in the diagonal and other Types II and III. The price could range from 350-450 €.

A very interesting part is the Type IIg variant. Type IIg did not appear in our plating. This suggests that the overprint changed during its use and thus IIg copies are rarer than just simple fixed postion misprintings. So definitely around 120-150 €.

And the evolution of the overprint is another topic to explore ….
